Pratt Burnerd ‘Gripfast’ Power Chuck takes hold
Pratt Burnerd International, a division of 600 UK, announce the launch of their new ‘Gripfast’ Combination Power Chuck. The ‘Gripfast’ is unique due to its unsurpassable versatility, providing CNC lathe customers with a chuck, a collet chuck and a mandrel chuck, all combined in the one unit.
This all comes carrying Pratt Burnerd’s world famous name, which is synonymous with high quality, value for money, innovative workholding products.
The ‘Gripfast’ Combination Power Chuck comes into its own when used on production CNC turning centres for medium to small batch production enabling CNC lathe operators to increase productivity with minimal non machining time.
The ‘Gripfast’ is currently used, as standard, on Colchester Lathes’ new Tornado CNC production turning centres, ensuring high speed, high accuracy turning with rapid component changeover.
Additional features of the ‘Gripfast’ Combination Power Chuck include:
- The ‘Gripfast’ Power chucks unique counter balance feature negates centrifugal force effects, ensuring constant gripping force and 90% jaw force at maximum operational speed of up to 6000rpm. This compares to most other power chucks in its class that maintain only 33% of gripping force using standard top jaws.
- ‘Gripfast’ chucks are supplied with a duplicate set of master jaws and simple off-machine jaw setting fixture, permitting the jaws to be pre-set off the machine ensuring a changeover time of less than 1 minute through the world renown High Speed Quick Change jaw feature. This can result in an estimated time saving of 95% over other power chucks and can give payback in less than 6 months.
- The ‘Gripfast’ Power Chuck speedily converts to a collet chuck with the master jaws accepting a comprehensive range of standard or special collet pads.
- The renown Pratt Burnerd ‘Setrite’ feature is incorporated, as standard into the ‘Gripfast’ chuck body, allowing ultra high adjustment accuracy of either jaws, collet pads or mandrel.
- The ‘GripFast’ Workholding Power Chuck, with optional large through bore capacities, can be supplied to fit all makes and models of CNC production lathes utilising the existing CNC machines chucking assembly.
